Graduate Careers

The department has two separate graduate programs:

Graduate Trainee Program

The Graduate Trainee Program is for applicants from all academic backgrounds and will prepare you for a career as a generalist policy officer.  Graduate Trainees work to advance Australia's interests across a broad range of areas - from security to trade - and represent Australia in a formal capacity while serving overseas.

Corporate and Financial Management Trainee Program

The Corporate and Financial Management Trainee Program is for those with qualifications in Accounting, and will prepare you for a career managing the department's assets, resources and programs.  When serving overseas, our corporate officers have special responsibility for providing consular assistance to Australian citizens.

Applications for the 2010 intake of Graduate Trainees and Corporate and Financial Management Trainees have now closed. We are currently short-listing candidates to be invited to complete the next stage of the selection process, a written test.
